Abstract: Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCB) are widely used for Protection against Overload current and Short circuit faults in LT (V <1000V) lines. L&T offers existing Frame 0 MCCB with 8 different current ratings i.e. 20A to 100A. Project scope is to upgrade maximum rated current carrying capacity of Frame 0 till 160A. This objective will be achieved through completion of multiple small milestones such as, concept development, theoretical verification, use of JMAG software for electromagnetic simulation, prototyping of concepts & validation testing of MCCBs made with proposed concepts. For making the selected concept work for bulk production (5000 MCCBs/Month), various aspects such as establish thermal calibration & magnetic calibration & First time yield more than 95% has to be achieved. Project objective will also cover above mentioned aspects.
