Abstract: Renewable energy generation in an industrial environment has a new concept to reduce the plant peak demand in recent years. Power generation is possible by small wind turbines because having a significant capability to retrofit in existing system. This project analyzes the performance of a small wind turbine, where they have to operate in higher range of velocity available from significantly lower area. The objective of this project is to analyze and increase the power generation efficiency of a small wind turbine. Modification in the wind turbine and energy conversion system is required and has to be shown. Further analysis using average flow rate, energy estimation is required to find out the payback period. To overcome the limitation of the discussed horizontal axis small wind turbine, new prototype of small wind turbine is designed and developed, which has to be compared with the present system. At last conclusion has to be made from the results and it will show that the small wind turbines have a capability to retrofit in existing system and it can operate up to 75 percent of its rated capacity if described modification is there.
