Abstract: | In process type manufacturing industries such as chemical, cement, fertilizer etc, the role of machinery plays a vital role for deciding the plant e ciency. In these industries, similar types of products are manufactured every day, so there is no need of change of manufacturing methods and its sequence. Hence, there is a scope of optimizing/modifying the existing facility for the better output. For this, one can break (divide) the whole process into small activities and then can analyze each activity critically to nd out the scope of optimization/modi cation of the existing system. This project is carried out in a cement manufacturing industry. Most of the cement manufacturing industries use semi automatic truck loading system for loading of cement bags. The cement industry undertaken for project has four semi automatic truck loading systems operated by two workers each. One worker is responsible for the movement of the loading conveyor belt and the other worker is orienting cement bag proper direction in truck manually. During loading of cement bag in the truck, dust particles in the surrounding environment are quite high and which is very harmful for human breathing. So to minimize the worker's exposure to highly dusty environment, there is a need of modi cation of the existing semi automatic truck loading system. At present, semi automatic truck loading system is operated at 1200 bags/hr as beyond this worker cannot handle manually however speed of the roto-packer is 3000 bags per hour. Hence, automation is necessary to improve the utilization the existing system. A conceptual design is proposed for modifying the existing system for better utilization. Selection of material is done on the basis of safe design parameter. Prototype is also developed and installed on the present loading system. Software like Creo 2.0 and Solidworks are used for designing and developing the controlling for proposed system. |
