Abstract: Increasing demand of Cloud Computing has led to the formation of a large number of data center. There are considerable amount of computing resources in the data center. Generally, these resources are not utilized efficiently. As a result data center consumes lots of electrical energy, which results in increasing the Total Cost of Operation and Carbon Foot Print in Environment. So, community needs to do "Green Cloud Computing" for reducing Total Operational Cost and Carbon Footprint in Environment. This thesis focuses on energy consumed by Virtual Machine residing on the servers of data center. As the workload distribution is irregular in data center, number of active VMs inside host varies but, energy consumed by them is same. So, there is wastage of computational resource and irrespectively Carbon Footprint also increases. To overcome this problem and enhance the performance a research algorithm is proposed. Results obtained shows that by efficiently utilizing computational resources energy consumption can be reduced.
