dc.description.abstract | The mobile phone performance, particularly smartphones, has been immediately enhanced throughout the previous couple of years. Users consume the smartphones content and take the advantage of highly efficient smart phones. As a result, needs of file sharing by means of smartphones have been considerably increased and users frequently share the contents. Client/Server systems limitations become clearly understood in an Internet scale distributed environment. P2P system offer an alternative to traditional client/server systems: Every node behave both as a client and a server and "pays" its support by giving access to its computing resources. Current peer to peer file sharing systems most part deal with wired systems. Frequently it suffer from disconnections and retransmissions. A web hard-based sharing needs to pay high-priced cost for utilizing high-volume file servers too. In this thesis, we propose an application for peer to peer file sharing for the Android devices with the aim to improve performance in terms of reliability and better file delivery ratio. It enable peer-to-peer file-sharing over mobile ad hoc networks. Mobile ad hoc network is specified as multi-hop wireless communications between mobile devices. In this thesis, we explore the workability of a practical implementation of a peer-to-peer file sharing model on smartphones. In this thesis we develop a fast file sharing system for smartphones when two devices come in range of each other, one need to decide quickly whether the other device has the file it need or not and try to get as many data as possible. Over time, files can be shared in the whole network. | en_US |
