Abstract: In the new economic year and globalization phase, industries are required to manufacture good quality machine tools with optimized performance at the moderate cost. Moreover, the industries are facing lot of competition at both the levels i.e. national as well as international. In machine tool design, to optimize the design finally, analysis becomes powerful tool for designer and thus it is required to analyze the various structures i.e. head, slant bed, column, slides, over arm etc. of machine tool before arriving at final design decision. Again, it is very difficult to analyze the structure analytically and moreover the accurate results for stress, deflection etc. are the limitations of this method. This dissertation work deals with the application of high-end software – Pro/Mechanica, to solve the problem lying with analytical analysis method with intangible benefits of reducing time and increasing accuracy of design –analysis results for LX-200 a turning centre.
