Abstract: It is necessary to have an accurate characterization of RF front-end in the performance evaluation of radio communication systems. Front-end is very important part of the design and it includes Power Amplifier, Band Pass Filter, Low Noise Amplifier matching network and Tx-Rx switch. The non-linearity of the power amplifier, the non-ideality of the filter will degrade the performance of the design. One of the transmitter parameter which is affected is Transmit Power Control (TPC). The Transmit Power Control is done at the RF front-end in which the affected by the power amplifier parameters and the power estimator. This thesis includes the study of the feedback loop which involves the working of the power estimator which includes ADC and VGA. It includes study on understanding the TSSI gain values in the gain table. It also tries to understand the challenges faced when both Bluetooth and Wired Local Area Network (WLAN) radios are collocated and an effort has made towards understanding the calibration techniques performed to make the performance of TPC better.
