Abstract: With the increased focus on renewables, the installation of wind power generation systems or wind farms have been rapidly grown all over the world. However, due to the inherent intermittent characteristics it has introduced number of testing issues such as protection and stability issues. Another problem is the inter-area oscillations affected by interactions among generators. So as to examine the execution of a practical power system, a two-area power system coupled with a coordinated DFIG-based offshore wind farm is considered in this work. In order to improve the damping of considered power system connected with an coordinated offshore wind farm, presented work make use of STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensator) for compensating the reactive power and keeping voltage profile at the coupled bus. The principle commitment is to analyze a STATCOM linked with a lead-lag power-oscillation damping controller (PODC), which is composed by utilizing phase-compensation method to reduce oscillations of the studied two-area. By simulation results it can be concluded that the proposed FACTS device will be able to enhance stability of the considered system under various disturbance conditions.
