dc.description.abstract | The automation has become a necessity in production and testing, using automation higher accuracy and better production rate can be achieved at same or better quality. In a testing and measuring process to remove human error and to process with less skilled human resources automation is the best option. The first objective of the project is to design and develop an SPM (Special Purpose Machine) for performing the operations like countersinking and deburring. This system consists a mechanical fixture, electrical actuators, sensors, control system and computer software. The second objective of the project is to design and develop a machine for automation of manual operation of label application for DN0 production line. This system consists a mechanical fixture, pneumatic actuators, sensors, control system and computer software. The methodology for the fulfilment of the above objectives consist of conceptual design of fixture using CAD Software-Creo, selection of different components and materials, sequencing of different actuators and analysis of force required for machining. The SPM for countersink and deburring operations on craddle plates and copper terminals and the second machine for label application for DN0 circuit breaker production line, both the machines are designed, analysed, fabricated and tested to validate their functionality and the poka-yoke has also been implemented for error proofing, which eliminates the operator mistakes. | en_US |
