Abstract: In human body Knee Joint is a joint which joins the thigh with the leg and consists of two articulations: one between the femur and tibia (tibio-femoral joint), and one between the femur and patella (patella-femoral joint). It is the largest joint in the human body. The knee is a modified hinge joint, which permits flexion and extension as well as slight internal and external rotation. The knee joint is vulnerable to injury and to the development of osteoarthritis. In the current scenario knee joint injuries which lead to the total knee joint replacement are very common majorly including the degenerative changes of properties and wear of articular cartilage. Although the increasing use of artificial joint in field of biomechanics, it is very difficult to define the life of a prosthetic knee. So the abstract of this project is to study of the anatomy of articular cartilage of human knee joint and the kinetics and kinematics parameters in gait, so a design can be developed to simulate the artificial knee joint in a kinematic and dynamic similar environment of human leg motion during walking. Through which the estimation of the life of an artificial knee joint can be done.
