dc.description.abstract | Keyless locking is the mechanical coupling, which is used to transmit the higher amount of torque compare to the key way coupling without slipping. Manufacturing of the keyway is one of the difficult operation in industry because of high production cost. During manufacturing operations, stress concentration developed due to the various machining operations of keyway in shaft/hub can be serious for variable loading condition. If there is guiding deviation in the width of keyway during the machining of keyway (i.e. Axis of keyway is not parallel to the shaft axis), which will lead to a non-uniform loading of key during operation. The keyless coupling reduces/eliminates all the cons related to the key transmission coupling, which provides complete tight _t to the shaft without backlash. There is need of some parameter, which can suggest the better locking assembly for particular application for that need some theoretical calculation, which decide the capacity of locking assembly for that particular application. This all required parameters which can be calculate using fundamentals of design formula and strength of material based criteria which gives results for particular locking model and that same results can be compare with the FE analysis results. In this dissertation, the static structural analysis has been carried out to find out the initial pressure generation into the locking assembly using Ansys workbench 17.1.These analysis results using finite element method is compared with calculated results of pressure. After completion of analysis, also there is some of the methodology to establish theoretical equation to calculate bending moment of locking assembly. | en_US |
