Abstract: The spot welding fixtures used for body building of the MAXX and BOLERO models at Mahindra and its vendors are not suited to global standards. Also, up till now the work was carried out in 2-D only. The work done in the project have fulfilled the Mahindra’s needs to modify the fixture, create 3-D models of the fixture and spot welding equipment so that the fixture will suit to global standards such as North American Automotive Manufacturing Standards (NAAMS). The work also fulfills the requirements to simulate the fixture to visualize the working on fixture prior to manufacturing and carry out feasibility study for the welding gun access to various spot weld positions. The procedure adopted for the feasibility of welding gun access to spot positions now can also be used with every new fixture prior to manufacturing and also after modification done to any fixture. The major area on which R&D and CME Departments are working is to integrate the centre floor and front floor panel. The integrated panel will be called as integral floor panel. The reinforcements for the integral panel have been proposed in the project work along with modal analysis of the integral floor assembly.
