Defence Engineering is mainly into manufacturing of defence and aerospace projects & shipbuilding business. A self-propelled howitzer is mounted on a tracked or wheeled motor vehicle. In many cases, it is protected by some sort of armor so that it superficially resembles a tank. This armor is designed primarily to protect the crew from shrapnel and small arms fire, not anti-armor weapons. This project consists of design and analysis of lifting arrangement for insertion of dummy weight into the hull of self-propelled howitzer. For this arrangement, the work carried out consists of design of lifting beam, design of column, design of power screw, selection of linear motion guide ways, selection of bearing, selection of gearbox and motor, design of dummy weight and design of chain and sprocket. 3-dimensional model of scheme and components of lifting arrangement was prepared using Siemens Solid Edge ST-9 software. Finite Element Analysis was performed on same software as well as Ansys Workbench 17.1 during project duration.en_US
