dc.description.abstract | A Basic Input Output System (BIOS) also know as System ROM, ROM BIOS or PC BIOS which serves initializing and accessing the hardware with a trust while booting a system. There are multiple issues that needs to be addressed like validating basic sanity checks, authentication of firmware been loaded, identifying the embedded packages been used. To address the above issues, proposed the Firmware Security Validation Test Suite. This test suite mainly aims at automating different checks of the firmware considering the type of firmware used, authentication of the firmware, registry checks, platform support checks. Covering each of this check for makes this test suite seamless. Each phase has its predefined task to check the CPU fuses, image verification, verifying the hardware root of trust, signature verifying and releasing this test suite to give support to past and future platforms also. Once the firmware and platform information are verified, it will check the various components to validate the security features without any kind of human intervention. The main aim of the test suite is to add multiple IntelĀ® Security Technologies in a plug and play format, which would be platform agnostic and would not have any dependencies on other tools and modules. This test suite would help to reduce the number of escapes due to manual testing, can reduce the time consumption required for sanity, stress and regression testing, reduced the time to framing the test cases. | en_US |
