Abstract: Modern ASIC designs having ultra-deep sub-micron processes, for this type of technology node layout had very important role to play. Full chip layout had its own hierarchical structure. The full chip hierarchy contains Standard cell and Functional unit blocks (FUB) inside the Section. Section has two type of Blocks RLS and DP. DEF is used for RLS FUB. DEF flow is useful to integrate the RLS FUB inside section. Design Exchange Format (DEF) is a specification for representing physical layout of an integrated circuit in an ASCII format. A DEF file is used to describe all the physical aspects of a design, including Die size, Connectivity, Physical location of cells and macros on the chip. It contains floor-planning information such as Standard cell rows, groups, Placement and routing, blockages, Placement constraints, Power domain boundaries. It also contains the physical representation for pins, signal routing, and power routing, including rings and stripes. Sections have many FUB to integrate in cyclic manner To generate DEF and find the metal sharing inside this manual flow is time consuming process, so automated flow is being proposed which can easily find the metal sharing between section and FUB and saves the time. Automated flow will check all the constraints and Generate one CNT File which contain all the information of that block that reduce manual efforts to Generate DEF. The script is to automate the Design Exchange Format flow. That will reduce the manual effort and time. To generate DEF, user need some Data like metal sharing percentage, no of tracks to be shared. So, in manual flow user needs to check for the congestion and decide how many tracks to be shared. So, this new track sharing mechanism is developed it will calculate the percentage utilization and according to that it will calculate the no of tracks to be shared .Instead of doing this flow manually this script will calculate the percentage of routing per index from that it will find the no of free tracks to be shared and according to that it will generate one control file. This control file is used to generate DEF automatically.
