Abstract: Air Circuit Breaker (ACB) is a switching device used for making and carrying current under normal condition and breaking current under abnormal condition. A current transformer is a device that is used to measure the alternating current. Current transformers reduce high voltage currents to a much lower value and provide a convenient way of safely monitoring the actual electrical current owing in an AC transmission line using a standard ammeter. In air circuit breaker, current transformer consists of combination of Iron core and Rogowski. The iron core is used to power-on the Electronic unit and Rogowski is used for metering purpose. This project focuses on the development of new design of Current Transformer which has higher output at the starting for early power-on of Electronic unit and constant output at rated current for early saturation of iron core. The final specifications of Current transformer power output and early simulation is fixed based on the existing design specifications and the competitor's benchmarking.
