dc.description.abstract | The synchronous generator exciting system is the main equipment for operation and control of generator and power supply. Conventionally, an exciting system is used exclusively for supplying field current to field coil and provides only steady-state stability. Transient instability occurs in synchronous generator if synchronizing torque is not provided sufficient. This can be prevented by using an exciting system with a fast retort and adequate forcing power. To overcome this problem digital controllers are used. Many researches have been done on utilizing the transient response stabilization of generators. This thesis introduces the different approach for tuning PID parameters for an exciting system. PID parameters are adjusted using the particle swarm optimization technique. | en_US |
