Design and Development of Moulded Case Circuit Breaker with External Accessories

Abstract

The present work focuses on the Design and Development of Moulded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB) with External Accessories. MCCB give protection to device against faults like short circuit and overload. L&T offers various range of MCCBs, with external accessories and internal accessories. Accessories are added to the product to increase the automation and ease of operation in MCCB. The combination of product and its accessory must work simultaneously which is the marriage-based combination Rotary Operator Mechanism as an external acces• sory can be used when the MCCB is installed in panels. The mechanism of this accessory is directly attached to the MCCB and converts the rotary motion into reciprocating motion. New version of MCCB and its Rotary Operator are available for selected range of rating. The new version of Rotary Operator works on different working principle with additional inter• locking feature. Based on the requirement of a specific range, there is a need for combining existing MCCB with new version of ROM where it will offer additional safety interlocking feature. This project aims at combining an advanced range of ROM with an available range of MCCB by creating standardize change. During the scope of the project, project defini• tion, component measurement, prerequisite study, concept development, concept selection, Improvement in design & finalization of design carried out.
