Abstract: | Permanent Magnet Brushless DC (PMBLDC) Motor gradually becoming popular in various applications ranging from milliwatt to megawatt because of its attractive features compared to conventional electric motors. Improvement of efficiency and torque quality may further enhance the performance of PMBLDC motors. Efficiency of the motor can be improved with optimum selection of design variables and application of superior magnetic materials like amorphous metal materials and Hiperco. Torque quality can be improved with reduction of cogging torque. Cogging torque is inherent in PM- BLDC motor. Cogging torque deteriorates torque quality of the motor resulting into noise and vibrations. Cogging torque can be reduced by several design modification techniques adopted on stator side and rotor side. This project aims at improving performance of PMBLDC motor by increasing efficiency of the motor. |
