Abstract: | In most of conventional practice pressure vessel shell industries is to machine pressure vessel shell of wt. 150T which is performed on vertical turret lathe. Vertical turret lathe is most power consuming option which is highly increase production cost. In order to reduce machine cost as well as in reduction production time, it is require to identify newer option for the purpose which can be possible by adopting major modification in vertical turret lathe which can works as vertical milling machine. The objective of present work is design special purpose milling machine parts and analysis of design parts for special machining of pressure vessel shell. This is a special purpose machine because in most of machine either job is rotated, or cutter is rotated but, in this machine, both job as well as cutter is rotated along its axis. For shell facing and turning, we take face milling cutter in vertical milling machine. In order to achieve desire task. It is necessary to design all major components with basic design consideration. The major component involve design of slewing bearing, Gear box, milling cutter, Milling head, Column, Base column (flange), bracket, stool and slewing column designed id done. Next stage work involve analysis of designed components with a suitable software followed by subsequent simulation work then if time permits manufacturing and testing of machine will be done. |
