Abstract: HPTLC method is used for estimation of risperidone. This method is new, rapid, simple and alternative of HPLC. Risperidone is an atypical antipsychotic. It is used for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. For quantification of risperione HPTLC was performed on silica gel 60F254. Methanol: ethyl acetate 7:3 was used as a mobile phase. Densitometric analysis of risperidone was done at 285nm. Rf was found to be 0.39±0.01 with compact bands. Linear regression of the calibration data shown a good linear relationship r2 was 0.9995. Good linear relationship between response and amount of risperiodne was found in the range of 50-550ng/band. Method validation was done with different parameters like Linearity, accuracy, precision, repeatability. Force degradation study was also done to check the stability of drug those are acid degradation, base degradation, thermal degradation and photolytic degradation.
