Abstract: | Reciprocating compressors play a major role in operation of many petrochemical, chemical, gas, food industry and general industrial applications. Traditional Designs of these compressors cannot face the new generation competition of cost, quality and to satisfy the newly advanced requirements of the customer (sound engineering), so redesigns are necessary. The project deals with the Redesign of the air end assembly parts such as, Cylinder, Cylinder Frame Head, Cylinder Outer Head, Distance Piece, Piston etc. It consists of the Redesign and Modeling of air end parts in Pro/E WILDFIRE and analysis in ANSYS and ALGOR. The main objective of the project is to make the compressor compact without loosing its capacity and efficiency. Compactness can reduces the manufacturing cost and weight of the whole compressor. It can also decrease packaging time. We have redesigned and the Cylinder, Cylinder Frame Head, Cylinder Outer Head, Valve stop plate of the rectangular channel valve and the Distance Piece. Some of the complex parts are analyzed with the help of analysis software. Stresses are within the allowable limits. Redesign reduces the weight of the existing model. Due to redesign of the valve stop plate of the discharge valve there is increases in the volumetric efficiency which leads to reduce the operating cost of the compressor .Reduction in the operating cost of the compressor gives more satisfaction to the customer and more market to the company. This Redesign can assure the product quality and its safety within the appropriate cost to the customer. |
