Abstract: 21st Century is a technology-based century, in which every one expect technology do serve for humanity. Energy is the prime requirements for all living beings. During transformation and use of energy, heat is generated which affects the performance of equipments. To solve the universal problem of heat transfer a novel concept of heat pipe that is known as super conductor can be used. Heat pipe is like a pencil cell transfers the large amount of heat with little temperature difference between heat source and heat sink with high efficiency. It can be used for a variety of applications, covering almost the entire range of temperature encountered in heat transfer process because of compact, reliable, cost effectiveness and less maintenance. This paper covers the principle, construction, operation, selection, performance parameter, application and limitations of heat pipe.
