Thermal insulations retard the flow of heat into or out of systems. The effectiveness of a thermal insulation is judged on the basis of its thermal conductivity for which a boil-off calorimeter is widely used for powder type insulating materials. The design and construction of boil-off calorimeter is an important area of research so as to obtain the best possible accuracy of results. The paper analyses the three different type of calorimeters and their relative construction characteristics.en_US
