Abstract: | Today, the complexity of the computer systems has grown, with processors and chipsets incorporating millions of the transistors and compatible with dozens of operating system, hundreds of platform components and thousands of hardware devices and software applications. Hence the complexity of BIOS source code is increased so it is hard to develop different BIOS for each type of platform with different flavor, so need arise of one BIOS source code that can support all types of different board. POST (Power-on self-test) activated by BIOS. It runs a series of checks and diagnostics on your mother-board. The POST runs very quickly, Its hard to finds out where actually execution is stopped in which phase or which hardware is faulty or missing in the system if its stops in between. Thats why POST status codes are required which display progress and Error codes while executing the POST. By using these status codes we can track the execution of POST if serial debug log is not available. |
