Abstract: In an increasingly intense competitive environment, the industries need to improve their production techniques and quality ,where shortest lead time is desired by everyone. For that we need to find out the factors causing the increased lead time and solve them. In this project a small scale industry manufacturing globe valves is chosen to reduce the higher lead time of delivering the products to the customer. For the same current process plan is studied and time required for each is obtained. Problems affecting the lead time are identified. Identified problems are analysed using work study techniques like ABC analysis, priority matrix and Pareto analysis. The result of the analysis shows the critical problems affecting lead time. Assembly station is conceptualized to reduce the lead time. Alternate layouts are considered and evaluated using craft method.
