Abstract: | This paper illustrates productivity and quality improvement through Total Productive Maintenance implementation. It is the method to improve the productivity of a manufacturing firm by reducing and/or eliminating waste by continuous attention to the machine and process. Monthly data available from foundry is analyzed. Pareto analysis is carried out to identify the factors most responsible for the lower quality rate of the foundry and to identify the reasons having maximum impact on downtime of equipment. Cause and effect analysis is carried out to identify the factors responsible for occurrence of three major defects. Action plan is prepared for reducing sand drop, Blow Hole & lug Variation defects. As a part to improve productivity, suggestion scheme is also developed. |
