Material handling equipments are an eminent part of the human life. Cranes are amongst one of the material handling equipment which finds wide applications in different fields of engineering. The present work is an effort to develop software for carrying out automated design and analysis of hook of EOT crane using Visual Basic 6 as platform. The software development involve mainly two different activities, first one is the development of software for the automated design while the second activity is to perform the detailed design and analysis of hook. For the development of the user interface Visual Basic 6.0 has been used. The automated FE Analysis of this component have been carried out by developing interface between the software and Finite Element Analysis package Ansys 11 using Ansys parametric development language (APDL). This method speeds up design and analysis.en_US
