dc.description.abstract3D segmentation is very important area of image processing. It is used in Medical Imagery, GIS (Geographical Information System) and Satellite Imagery etc. Segmentation refers to the process of partitioning a digital image into multiple regions. The goal of segmentation is to simplify and/or change the representation of an image into something that is more meaningful and easier to analyze. Image segmentation is typically used to locate objects and boundaries in images. This thesis work consists of algorithms to segment any type of noisy/blurred image, in this; the approach used for solving this problem is based on active contours. Active contour is a curve that moves towards the sought-for shape. It is controlled by internal and external force of the objects. It is based on Energy Minimization Algorithms. In this algorithm, based on energy, it recognizes the different objects in image and objects are differentiated on the basis of its boundary.en
