Abstract: Introduction According to the American Psychiatric Association, mental disorders account for 40% of the leading causes of disability in the U.S. and other developed countries [1]. Mental disorders are commonly defined as diseases that cause disturbances in an individual’s thought processes and feelings, or that cause behavioral changes which inhibit him/her from coping with daily routine. There are more than 200 classifications of mental disorders, of which the most common are depression, dementia, schizophrenia, and anxiety [2].
