Abstract: In a planetary gear drive, the power circulating within the system elements may vary significantly from that of input power to the system. This is because of the relative motion of the gear members, which has a considerable effect on the performance and efficiency of the systems. This paper describes the dynamic modeling and simulation of the coupled planetary gear train test rig. The dynamic model of the test setup has been derived. The transient and steady state response of the system has been obtained through simulation of the model in MATLAB Simulink. Simulation results agree with the theoretical steady state power flow analysis.
